The wisdom of Peter Appleton
I was reminded last night of a story that Peter Appleton told us when I was at college.
Brian Eno was working on an album, in Japan I think, and had asked Pete to come and join him. Pete had taken a variety of his instruments and was excited about them. So when he got there he kept on going on about what he had brought to the party. In the end Brian was so frustrated that he said something like "Shut the fock up and listen to the music".
I am always reminded of this story when I join a new project - I find my internal monologue (thankfully using words I can understand: Daniel Kitson) saying "listen to the fockin music, before you go off on one about how great you are".
